Dennis Allen on Graham being inactive earlier in the season: “Let’s start focusing on what we need to do moving forward"

The HC's responsibility is to inject himself when his coaches aren't maximizing a game plan and LEAD the team. DA is not a leader, he was promoted out of a position of relevance (Peter Principle) into a position he lacks the acumen and traits to be successful.

There is more to leadership than being a good eye for talent (which Allen does as a DB coach) or run a decent defense (as DC).

DA's comment further highlights his inadequacies and the reason why he stated the importance of looking forward rather than scrutinizing the previous decision.

My personal belief is that Sean knew this and promoted DA as a means to make himself look better. Granted, I'm cynical of most human intentions...

Someone used a good band analogy on a different post. You can't take the lead singer of a band away, throw in another 'dude' and expect it to be the same band.
He's not a great motivator is what you're looking for. And I'd have to agree but that doesn't mean you can't build around his other strengths. For Allen, I think he needs an OC/Assitant HC that has a bit more bite. It's all about the structure of a team and do you have the right components functioning around the HC. While it makes sense to tear it down, it also financially doesn't. I mean you could be the raiders if you want, but I think with age comes wisdom and Loomis has learned to be patient.

You must marry DA with the right OC/Assistant HC. That's an easier move than trying to bring in a new staff ground up and expect it to work in year 1 or even 2. At least with the noted option if you get it right you can see it pay immediate dividends in 2024
