So, Were the Players Ticked Off by the Booing?

Surprised the following hasn't been mentioned. About 1/2 or 2/3 through the 2023 baseball season, Trea Turner was not hitting anywhere near the level suggested by his exorbitant free agent contract. Then, a local radio station (as I understand it) persuaded the fans at Citizens Bank Park to give Turner a standing ovation instead of booing him. So, the Philadelphia fans--yes, the Philadelphia fans-- gave him the standing ovation. Turner's season turned around, as did the team's.

I have certainly booed at a stadium-- but I am not sure it accomplishes much except personal venting.
This reminds me of Jordan Thompson, SS for LSU at the CWS earlier this year. He was in a 1 for 30 slump in the first 7 CWS games and had 2 errors in game 2 of the finals. But in game 3 of the finals when he came to bat the LSU fans gave him a standing ovation and encouraged him on and rallied him up and he ended his slump.
We’ve made our displeasure known, our displeasure is with the coaching, not the players, we all agree that Carr would be at least a little more serviceable with a game plan that fit his strengths, its not his fault he’s not getting it, lets try rallying around him and see if it can give him some confidence to overcome the poor coaching.
