Dennis Allen Post Game Press Conference

I’m just addressing the theory you present - nothing specific to DA
I disagree with your contention that public speaking (esp to media) is a barometer of leadership
Leading a locker room is a different animal than addressing a room of reporters- completely different context
There are plenty of teachers who are super capable in front on their classroom who then lose all confidence when they address an assembly
In the locker room you’re a strategist and motivator
In front on the media you’re a politician
Vastly different things

I disagree.

20 years ago, had you stood me in front of my peers and/or media and asked me to give my thoughts on insurance, i would have never participated. I didnt possess enough knowledge or confidence to project what i thought was the right opinion at that time.

Today, 20 years later, having been thru everything i have, peering into the inner workings of both the agency side and carrier side of insurance, after thousands of meetings and conferences, speaking to CEOs and CFOs and adjusters. Meeting with LDI on different occasions. Coming away every time with just a bit more information and knowledge than i had before, i can absolutely have an informed conversation about the "how" and the "why" and what needs to be done to get a handle on the insurance market in S LA. Absolutely.

I would and can imagine there are some exceptions where folks simply cannot perform.

But ill remind you that there are only 32 positions of NFL HC in the world. 32. I would think that filling that position would, at minimum, come with the requirement of having all the confidence and ability to perform your job without lacking the one or the other.

Thats the problem here. Speaking to a room of 15 year olds is not the same as addressing men, who have spent the majority of their lives learning playbooks, honing their skills, understanding every minute detail to reach the pinnacle of their ability.

and i get what you are saying, but in this instance, you simply cannot have that inability AND be successful as 1 of 32 in the entire world.

Coaching - at the highest of levels- is a very understated profession.
