The Cam Jordan extension

If you spend some time looking at Saints contracts, you'll discover that 2024 is really the worst it's ever been. We have already turned salaries into signing bonuses on void years for a lot of players. There are some that are expiring, there are others that are players under performing/oft injured and others close to retirement. Many players that fans would like to move on from that are locked in because it would cause the already insane cap situation to balloon even higher. Cam is one of those and there is nothing that can be done outside of maybe a small restructure that spreads his $6.3 million base salary, but that's not even enough to make a dent in our cap issues.

This is going to be a head scratching and at times infuriating off season for Saints fans that don't follow the contracts and cap. Loomis' "magic" has left the team with nearly zero roster flexibility and next years team will be half filled with minimum contracts and UDFAs to round out the roster of past their prime and seemingly overpaid vets.

I just worry that some of those ridiculous contracts will force us to let a lot of our young talent go.
