Jameis Winston’s contract becomes a $107m deal on March 16th trigger date

According to Spotrac, his cap hits are 4.5m in 24, 7.3m in 25, 0 after that. A pre June 1st release would result in dead cap of 10.6m in 24, 7.3m in 25, 3.9m in 26, and 567k in 27. Post June 1st release would be 3.36m in 24,25, and 26. And 567k in 27. I’m no cap wiz, just relaying what that site is saying.
Future cap hits usually get accelerated when a player is no longer on the team, either in the same league year or split between two league years.

Before we reworked Winston's contract, we were going to have the full $10.7m cap hit from his dead money.

After reworking it, our options are:

Release - same outcome as before, $10.7m cap hit

Release w/ June 1 designation - we would have a $3.4m cap hit in 2024 and a $7.3m cap hit in 2025

A key point on the June 1 designation is that we don't realize the cap savings until after June 1. However, by having him under contract to start the 2024 league year, we likely have a lower than $10.7m cap hit (probably $4.6m) that we will need to carry until June 1, so we save $6.1m from the new deal and an additional $1.2m after June 1 passes.
