Saints fired OC Pete Carmichael

Doug Marrone didn’t suddenly forget how to coach.

I think some of you guys just want heads to roll without fully understanding what goes into these positions, whose fault is what, etc.

What if behind the scenes Marrone hated what PC’s protection schemes were like? What if behind the scenes Marrone was the one that finally got PC to allow him to put who he wanted out there and that’s when we saw Peat do his thing at LT?

Just because a unit struggled doesn’t necessarily mean a position coach was doing a bad job, and just because a unit puts up good stats doesn’t mean their coach was doing a good job.
And what if , and mine are more fact-based. Marrone only had one OL really performing because he had Evans , Strief , Bushrod , Stinchcomb on it? And what if he parlayed that into a HC position that he was awful at and got fired. Then went on to have below avg OL in JAX then the bungling owner is dumb enough to make him the HC where he goes 25-55 and is fired. THEN Saban hires him to be OL coach. They underperform so badly that he fires him after ONE yr. Then what if he comes back to the Saints and the OL performance DECLINES EVERY yr he is OL coach?
Some coaches get lucky to have 3 all-pro O lineman on the same unit and it makes them look good. Doug Marrone is that such coach
