Mickey Loomis’ End Of Year Press Conference
He admitted the Saints have lost ground and need to make it up so we will see if they change some things, particularly how the team drafts. "We didn't have a successful season."
"I felt like we got off to a slow start in a number of areas."
I observed self-awareness as well as a lot of nuance that we as emotional fans don't want to take a wait-and-see approach on, but I gather he is going to be a touch more heavy-handed as he mentioned things he needs to fix with the culture (never mind DA as the HC, DA's coaches, or some of the older players). His point about doing what it takes to have a successful team focuses on intrinsic motivations and the players "need to work on their craft 24/7" alluding to player execution and drive.
I gather, based on the veiled comments about preparation, slow start, lack of success, etc...DA is on borrowed time if he doesn't show success. Success (to ML and most of us) is playoffs and beyond.
After listening, I'm willing to back off on the call to "FIRE MICKEY LOOMIS!"
I am cautiously optimistic that changes will continue. If we see a different Saints draft effort then I'll be a true believer that change is afoot.
