If this were 10-15 years ago, there's a decent chance Jerry wouldve fired McCarthy and gone after HC's like Belicheck or Harbaugh, gave them some vague, illusory promises and guarantees about greater personnel decision-making that Jones wouldn't unlikely cede or give up because he's such a paranoid, control freak that is determined to win another Super Bowl according to this stubborn ownership philosophy of doing it his way.
Jones knows and recognizes his impending mortality, he realizes he likely won't be alive 10 years from now, and another HC change/turnover, massive overhaul of assistant coaches that accompany it, so he doesn't want to blow it up.
