It may not be left up to him. His contract ended after this year and he'll be 35 years old when next season begins and even if Minnesota does resign him to a 2-3 year contract, its the last major contract of his career, and even then, more then likely, O'Connell will be eagerly searching and looking for his eventual replacement in a top-tier draft pick either in this draft or next year's. Within a year or two, Cousins will likely be mentoring his eventual replacement if he's even allowed to stay.
