Antonio Pierce is now officially the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders!

He's an interesting hire for sure. He's only been an NFL coach in any capacity for 2 years. Prior to that has was at ASU where he resigned over recruitment violations. Prior to that he ran one of the powerhouse high school programs into the ground.

It looks like Marvin Lewis will be a big part of his staff which should help with his lack of experience. You have to think that a lot of NFL coaches that have been going through the grind trying to work their way up are going to be rolling their eyes at Pierce getting the job. His resume is closer to Jeff Saturday than most head coaching candidates.

I hope it works out for him. It will be interesting to watch for sure.
I don't disagree. I think they were sold on his leadership, not his X's and O's. He is going to hire out the X's and O's part most likely. I've been thinking about that strategy a bit more with us having good X/O coaches and no leaders of men. I'm not sure which is superior, though I'd bet it's harder to retain and good X/O coach than the Rah Rah leader coach long term.
