That's not why Marty Schottenheimer was fired. He was fired primarily because he and A.J. Smith (the Chargers GM) couldn't see eye to eye. Schottenheimer went on record saying he and Smith hardly ever spoke in 2 years, and didn't have an actual working relationship.
