Rodgers-Cromartie...4.28 40 yard dash' (merged)

No, you couldn't. Not like that, no.

You don't understand what you're talking about.

The core problem with projecting someone from say a Tampa-2 scheme to a bump-and-run scheme is that the Tampa-2 scheme doesn't require physical attributes that are needed for a bump-and-run type coverage. It potentially "hides" defects. Namely in a Tampa-2 the CB isn't going to have to turn and run very much if at all. So when you hear people talk about "zone" CB's, the word "hips" usually follows.

The issue here though is we know DRC has "the hips" for man coverage. Or, well, it sure as hell looks like he does. What "scheme" he played in then is in large part irrelevant because it's not his physical ability that is in question. He's a physical freak.

You could say "well what about his ability to contribute sooner", and that might be a fair point. Experience counts for a CB.

But DRC came from Tennessee Tech. I mean come on. Does it matter if he covered the recievers at Chattanooga or Eastern Kentucky in man-coverage? The gap in talent was almost certainly so great he had sloppy technique anyways. No matter how you slice it he's going to have to make up significant ground in terms of coaching and experience. Again, irrelevant.

How's that list coming?

Does this mean we'd be better off picking somebody with slightly less athletic ability, but more experience with more quality competition with more refined technique?

Again, not arguing, I think the guy's a good player. Just looking at it from a "Saints fit" standpoint.
