This is an interesting subject, I am late for here is what I do:

1) Figure out the kind of offensive system that will compliment my defence, and that also will include the protection and blocking schemes.

2) Identify a coach that will be able to run the kind of scheme I fell comfortable with. Hire him and give him full independence on handling the offensive side of the ball. Give him also full independence to hire assistant coaches.

3) Identify the positions where we need to get younger as soon as possible, and make a 3 year plan to achieve the goal of not only getting young, but cleaning the cap.

4) I would name an assistant who would be at my ear for game management, challenging calls.

5) Since I am planning to be a successful coach, I will be putting a plan to promote coaches, once our coordinators and positions coaches leave the organization for better opportunities.
