I find the criticism of the hire a little lazy.
I really don't know if Morris will be successful, but certainly he is a very interesting candidate.
- His hire as a head coach in Tampa wa a gamble. He may have been the youngest head coach at the time, and Tampa was trying to do similar at what Pittsburgh did with Tomlin.
- Both in his tenures at Tampa and Atlanta, he coached teams that were on the process of being torn and rebuilt.
- He made his reputation coaching defensive backs, but he has been in staffs coaching offense and defence.
- People swear about his leadership skills.
I think that Morris, more than being consider a mastermind of coaching one unit of a team, has the attraction of working all over and has the experience of being a head coach.
I think he can succeed, if he is able to build a competitive staff, and give the coordinators to build and call games as they see fit.
I think it is an interesting hire.
