Spare a thought for how many people David Tepper probably has treated like that during his career specializing in investments in alleged "distressed companies" at Goldman Sachs and his hedge fund, particularly the people laid off at the companies he bought controlling interest in who neither have buyout contracts nor whose stories make the media.
Thanks. And it’s not so much that he got “let go” or “fired”, however you want to put it. That’s part of it. Unusual for someone that ranked 2nd out of 32 in what they do in the league, but sheet happens.
And I don’t see how anyone could be upset with Canales. It wouldn’t be smart on his end to keep someone that was technically the head coach and leader of the team for the last portion of the season. He shouldn’t be expected to retain a coach that is as popular as Chris and probably has a handful or more players that wanted him to get the official head coaching position. Definitely in Canales’ best interest to remove any possibility of divisiveness that could result from that situation in the future.
But Tepper has just proven how inept he is once again. He knew Tabor was way down on his list to be the permanent head coach. He wants a more proven offensive guy that can hopefully do something with Bryce Young. No one can blame him for that. But To not allow someone like Chris who has done everything that you have asked him to do and done it at a high level, to seek another job opportunity when it was obvious his current job wasn’t going to remain available is just cold hearted. He even let other coaches interview for jobs during the same time. He knew he had something of value that others wanted and even though it was obvious it wasn’t going to work out, he refused to let them have it.
