The problem of White Supremacy - Spinoff from Buffalo Shooting thread

Yep, I tried the Copelands in Alexandria, VA 20+ years ago, and that was decent enough, but RIP also. Never did try Lulu's.

And yes, they can never get the flavors right. It's either completely bland, or they put way too much of whatever. Others simply aren't Cajun or NOLA/creole food. Some of what passes for jambalaya, good grief.

One thing I do like about Jason's deli is their gumbo is fairly decent and I love their muffaletas. I just wish I could get a good shrimp or oyster poboy or a good crawfish etouffee here.

The muffs are the one thing you can emulate pretty well. There is an italian market here that has awesome bread, they call it crusty NY bread, it's like a light ciabatta but still dense enough for olive oil/salad.....I like to make mine with ham off the bone sliced very thin, salami and/or proscuitto and provolone. I make the olive salad myself with large briny green olives, blanched veggies, good olive oil and oregano.....

Poboys are impossible because.....Nola quality french bread is non existent anywhere else.....believe it or not the closest thing I've found is the Wawa sub bread, a big crunchy but light, not exactly the same of course but makes a decent poboy....

Etouffee is pretty easy to make actually.....
