Draft JJ McCarthy
That has yielded little to no fruit for us here lately. We’ve done the drafting , time for us to hire a position coach that can yank the talent and performances out of these dudes.
Yet and still you go nowhere in this league without a Quarterback
We are not getting a QB this year that will make a difference in the immediate future, We have our QB for at least this year and the organization made it clear.
Do not think I am saying you are wrong. If they go QB that would be fine, I love prepping for the future because I do not believe this team is a threat to do any damage next season. However, building from the inside out to me is the best way to go I believe, I think SF modeling that is a good example. However, if one of the ELITE college QB's (one of the top 2 or 3) fall and you have that chance then you take him.
However, we still have holes on the fronts, on the OL......
In the last 5 years we have drafted 2 starters on the OL. One of those was a center we moved to G. Other than that we have drafted projects during that time frame with the 103rd 4th round pick in Saldiveri from Old Dominion, 19th pick with Penning from Northern Iowa, 203rd 6th round pick in Young.
None of those have even shown flashes that they are ready to be starters. We have drafted depth and still have holes in which we are not sure we can fill in FA.
On the DL we have drafted three interior DL in the last 8 years. Rankins who is playing in Houston, Bresee who seems like a hit, and Jordan Jackson who hasn't played a rep in the NFL.
At DE we drafted Foskey in 2023, Turner in 2021 who seems to have found his niche possibly, and Davenport in 2018 who's continued to be a bust in Minnesota.
We lack any consistent pass rush because we have very few edge players if more than one, that can create pressure consistently beating one on one situations. They just control Granderson and don't have to worry really about Jordan anymore.
We still need significant talent on our fronts. I would be fine with a QB for the future if the coach of the long term future was in the building.
