But, didn't the Saints have a better offense and a better record than the Broncos? I'm not sure exactly what was working. Their offense wasn't very good. Payton is certainly a better play caller than Pete. But his offense became predictable long before he retired from the Saints.
I'll tell you what was working, the 5 playoff teams they played w/ (KC 2x). They beat 4 of them, KC, GB, Bills and the BRNs. in Sean's 1st yr as head coach. Their offense was good enough to beat KC, GB, Bills and the BRNs.
Spoiler alert: In 5 seasons DA has never beat 4 playoff teams....................EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
