I volunteer at the local high school and one of the students came up to me and a few other “older guys” and said, “You ever heard of……Blockbuster? What’s that?” The concept of actually going to a store, renting a (gasp) VHS tape, rewinding it and returning it is completely foreign to them. I relayed to them the anticipation of a new release, hauling proverbial a** to Blockbuster to see if it is in only to find that every copy is rented out. I remember we wanted to see Platoon when it came out. All gone so my dad says, “Well, let’s get Platoon Leader. Should be the same.” Dear God, it was a blatant rip off with that 80’s Z-List actor Micheal Dudikoff and it was……not good.
Regardless, the younger generation will never know the phrase, “Be Kind. Rewind.” They looks I got? Yeah, I’m old…….
