Saints signed QB Nathan Peterman

Ehhhh... I see no real point of getting a QB to motivate another QB. So, this is a nothing burger for me personally. If you have to find one of the worst QB to ever play of the last 10 years to prop a guy to be #2 QB.

Maybe you should draft another QB

Even if you want a vet QB. You don't want a vet QB like Peterman.
I think they see little to no gap between Haener and a Wentz, Garoppolo or Tannehill as a Saints QB2. The latter are older journeymen swapping teams at this stage of their careers. They’re fetching big backup salaries because of their prime starting days years ago but can be worth vet minimum to a team who needs to spend wisely. They haven’t produced much during their recent playing time.

Peterman looks to be a better communicator of the playbook than physical performance. Thats what you’re looking for in a veteran backup QB when you already have an option on the team that was drafted last year. He has history with Carr and Janocko so communication looks to be valued more there. Big salary commitment isn’t needed for that. Backup QB isn’t where we were going to make a splash.
