Saints signed QB Nathan Peterman

What I don't get is that "camp arms" are guys you sign right before, well, camp. Undrafted FAs or guys like Peterman who can run scout team or just take some reps to give the other guys a break - they get signed in July or early August.

You don't sign a camp body in the first 2 days of FA, a month before the draft.

So I guess the "player/coach" angle makes the most sense.

Either way it's high comedy.
Playbook installations at OTAs and minicamp begin soon. It’s good to have an arm who’s versed with the system and can share expertise to the younger QB who’ll be the actual QB2

Right now it looks like the Saints feel comfortable with Haener and Hill as playable backup options at their salary rates. We don’t really need to crowd QB with multiple expensive salaries to have big names at backup QB on paper. Especially when they may have the same backup potential as our draft pick last year.
