Saints sign Chase Young to 1-year deal up to 13M (2.7M base, 1.86M signing, 450K workout, 7.99M total gameday roster bonus)

Considering his ceiling, $13 million for a one year prove it deal is actually pretty reasonable. That's what Davenport and Granderson made last season. Right around 25th in '24 season salary for edge rushers.

And I've been a critic of his since his second season with the Commanders. He actually had a decent rookie season, but hasn't really lived up to the hype since.
This is pretty much the best way to look at it. If it’s anything other than a rookie, you’re gonna have to pay for a pass rush no matter where it comes from: DE, OLB, DT. DE is also where we need the most help, and idk who else we could’ve or should’ve drafted that wouldn’t have broken the bank.

Considering a handful of OLBs and DTs with higher contracts (didn’t do any research just assuming 5-10 exist), I think it’s fair to say he is around to 30-35th highest paid pass rusher.

His ceiling is top 10, and it’s in a one year deal, so I think it’s fair to say that we are not overspending by much if at all bc I think most would consider him to be a top 40 pass rusher in the league.

Give a smart and lazy guy with all the talent in the world one year to make generational wealth, and more often than not I’d bet one them getting it done barring injury. Mix in a little pride being hurt after being the #2 overall pick and just missing out on a Lombardi, and I’m more than happy w this pick.
