It wasn't a subungual hematoma? I got one on vacay and wasn't sure whether it was cos I stubbed it or from all the walking but it was tender as hell. Didn't know till I got home and removed my toenail polish that the nail bed was all black from the blood. The tenderness went away and the nail eventually fell off (ooohhhhhh) and took better part of a year to grow back.

Hey Marsha - no, and I kinda wish that was it because you recovered and you’re currently pain-free in the toe. I don’t wear nail polish anymore now that my daughter is an adult and no longer insists on practicing on me vs. her mom, so no blood. I think the doctor is correct about arthritis, which sucks, but I’m living with it. (y)
