The cost to produce am actual magazine and reach fringe readers consistently is too expensive. This leads to publications designed for maximum readership.

With the advent of internet sites where you can pump out drivel for clicks that barrier was removed. Add in social media algorithms and bad actors then bingo, you have something profitable and useful idiots for your cause.
