How does he pronounce his last name? I am a Smyth as well and pronounce mine S-My-th.
Sounds more like the Original intention to ‘Smite’ that anvil! Some will argue it needs an E on the end to be legit but truth be told it started out as MacGowan, and I’m sure Smythe was shortened to drop the E, and Smith to be all anglicized….I’m going with Smyth to Smite, to strike something with great force and craftsmanship.
