OMG, hilarious.....my friend did alot of work at St. Charles Vision in the late 80's....I was waiting for him to get off work one day and in pops Wynton, I was already a fan and I typically don't engage celebrities but said hi and we immediately started talking about music.....He's not just a jazz fan, he also loves fusion and prog.....I thought how cool is it that Wynton loves Yes, Genesis and many of the other bands that influenced me....he was one cool cat IMO....

You’ve mentioned this friend before, yes?

I’m sure I’ve told the Wynton story plenty of times , but his band and my company shared a translator in Buenos Aires- long story short we played a basketball* game together (then invited them to the club we always went to after show)

BUT the most impressive part of meeting him was we got to go to a rehearsal- his drummer got caught up in customs and he had to audition a new drummer for the show that night- the one audition we saw he showed the drummer ON THE DRUMS what he wanted, then went to every dang instrument and showed drummer how to interact with each instrument
Dude played like 6 different instruments for the auditioner
