HB71 - Requires Louisiana Schools to display the 10 commandments passes with Bipartisan Support 82 - 19

and i'd also argue that's why it's important to draw the distinction between 'partisanship' and 'politics' more broadly -
discussions of race, gender, ethnicity, et al can be labeled 'politics' when they are often way more sociocultural discussions
it's a policy that can often protect regressive ideas - and no policy should do that

I tend to agree. But we both know that in the end partisan politics will enter those conversations because someone will push it that way.

And FWIW, I think it's a terrible thing because it further adds to the polarization and dehumanizing of the "other side" which is the goal of those who benefit from partisan politics in the first place. If we can't even try to have reasonable conversations about difficult questions on which people have partisan feelings, then there is no way to get past those partisan feelings. And if we can't hear what may be reasonable positions on things that we always thought was just partisan bullshirt, we will never know if there is common ground or if we can create common ground.
