My nerd fact of the day. Calico means tri-colored not female. They are 99% female though since most of
a cats color is carried on the X chromosome. Calicos can be male if they carry the XXY which is extremely
rare. The same can happen in human males.

we adopted a couple kittens about 10 years ago. they were from the same litter. One was Calico and one was all Orange. The Calico was female and the Orange was male. before that, i did not know that almost all Calico were female and almost all Orange cats were male.
