Andrus Peat signs with the Raiders (Merged)

Makes sense

They signed a bunch of O-lineman after the draft, none of them named Peat
Peat isn't a zone run blocking type of OL, and would have been the slowest guy with regards to 10yd split on the roster had he been resigned.
There's a report that the Saints had a deal in place to trade back w/ the Rams as they wanted Bowers. That confirms 2 things
A. The Saints were content to pass on Bowers and Fuaga
B. The Saints aren't valuing OL as much as the previous regime, and Bowers despite the love here, was probably still seen as an undersized TE that wasn't the "can't miss" prospect that everyone wanted him to be.

Looking back at the draft 19 would have still put them in front of Pittsburg where potentially they could have gotten maybe a 3rd rounder and still wound up with an OL (Troy Fatuanu). Who knows... potentially could have ended up with Payton Wilson with the extra 3rd.

Oh well, So long Peat...He'll go down as one of the better 1st round draft picks from that 2015 class. You go back and look at it and not many of those guys drafted after the Saints pick are still major contributors in the league, so regardless of how people feel like he was a miss...a 9 year career and counting suggest he was a major hit.

Cheers, hopefully he gets to play LT and potentially extend his career
