Aaron Taylor-Johnson rumored to become the next James Bond
if they're rebooting for us, it's with foreknowledge that agent 007 james bond is dead
guess they could rename him "jameis bonde" and skirt that whole "we already know how he dies" thing
smh
I mean Bond has been around since the 60s so the Bond Craig played was obviously not the Connery Bond, I don't even think the Moore Bond was the Connery Bond. And the Dalton Bond wasn't the Moore Bond, etc.
The films rarely acknowledge prior events. Although the Craig films did with reoccuring characters / organizations (Blofield / SPECTRE) and going to Vesper's grave - who appeared in Casino Royale.
Edit: Well reading a Reddit thread it appears I'm kinda wrong - even the earlier films do mention prior events. There does seem to be a "consensus" that the Craig Bond was however a "hard reboot". I don't see how you can trace the Brosnan Bond go all the way back to the Connery Bond, because with the films mostly considered to occur in the "present day", thats spans ~40 years from Dr. No to Die Another Day. Bond was normally portrayed as someone in the age range of 35-50, with Moore being on the upper end. Even being generous and saying Bond started his career at 25, you're still talking about a nearly 65 year old as some martial arts bad arse.
You could probably consider the Moore Bond as a continuity for Connery (as well as Lazenby), and indeed Moore was portrayed as being older, but you start to get dicey with Dalton.
Peronsally I would consider the Dalton/Brosnan Bond as another "soft" reboot. The broader point is there was rarely overarching plots across movies. Most of the "continuing bad guys", such as Blofield, were with the same Bond actor.
