Definitely the loudest single moment I’ve ever heard in the Dome (or Tulane Stadium, for that matter), and the vibe amongst the fans was definitely more special than anything I’ve ever felt before or since. Many, many tears and lumps in the throat that afternoon and night.
But, imo, the 2018 NFCCG was the most consistently loud, start-to-finish I’ve ever heard the Dome.
Good offseason discussion topic. I guess you are correct about the NFCCG being the most consistently loud. And yes the return to the Dome was the most emotional thing I have ever seen or heard. Admit to tears that night as well
But I as an old timer go back to circa 85??? We were 8-7 and the final game of the year was against the Rams. Win and we have our FIRST winning season EVER not to mention our first playoff game. We are up 17-16 (historian fans can fix my stats if I am wrong). Bum Phillips decides against letting Morton Anderson kick a 47 yard FG instead relying on the Dome Patrol. Under 2 minutes. When the defense came on the field the rest of the team was standing on the bench waving white towels. I’m telling you. And I have been there since 67… I think that was the loudest I have ever heard the Dome. It was insane. Then Landsford??? Kicks a long FG and the place goes deafly silent for maybe a minute or so. Then we just started clapping. Thanking the team for a great ride.
