Day-To-Day Approach Works In Rehabilitation

My knee is doing fine, and it progressing very well. I'm pleased with the progress I have made, and I have every intention of being on the field and totally recovered for Jets training camp.

I've been in Miami since the season was over working out, pushing myself to the limit and concentrating on getting my knee right. I can't ignore my upper body or the rest of my lower body, so I feel like I'm in that period where it's a total body workout. That's a good thing. I can do what I want to do physically, so now it is just a matter of continuing to be patient and seeing how much progress I can make one day to the next.

My goal is to be in the best shape of my life this summer. I've started jogging already, which is a good sign. I would like to do some sprinting in the next month or so and then take it from there. I know I have to show that I can run and cut and play at that high rate of speed, so that is ahead of me.

Mentally, I'm taking it day by day. I can't get ahead of myself. There are days when the knee feels great and there are days when I know it isn't quite where I want it to be. That is part of the process. I know that would be a challenge when I was injured, so I think I'm handling it well.

As for playing in 2008, I have no idea of what is in store for me as far as what the Jets are thinking. My focus is on getting myself back where I need to be. I feel good about where I am. I should be 100 percent for this next year.

We were all disappointed with the way the season went last year. It was tough. I honestly thought we were a playoff-caliber team. It fell apart on us. I have been involved in seasons like that, and you realize how slim the margin is between winning and losing in the league.

I was up visiting the doctors and the team about a week ago, and things went well. Again, all I can do is worry about how I am going to perform. What the coaching staff wants from me, they will let me know when the time is right.

There are no vacations and not much down time for me. My body feels great. I feel confident mentally. I know I have a lot of work ahead of me, but right now I feel I am on course to be 100 percent this season.
