Here it is a situation that by the time the fire department arrives a fire will be completely out of control. I have four mowers to mow my yearly acres of weeds for my required fire prevention chores.

The climate change we've experienced so far has made mowing when it is too dry very dangerous. We have rocks here which if they are struck by hardened iron will throw off sparks which can ignite the grass. (That's somewhat like the old flint and steel fire making method)

Every mower I have has been modified to carry a fire extinguisher on the handle, they have long hoses that reach down under the mower. If I do start a fire mowing I will have about 15 seconds to react before a fire gets too big.

I have started a fire that way once this year, I was able to stomp it out when it was about the size of a tennis ball. I got lucky. My mowers didn't go back out there until I had them all modified. This year has been impossible, it went from wet to dry way too fast for us to keep up.

The reason I have four mowers is there are two of us mowing, and we each need a spare mower, they constantly suffer damage. When it's time to mow, it's important to get that mowing done while it's still a bit moist, if not a bit green.

I also have many fire extinguishers at both of my homes.
