The show has deviated pretty strongly from the comic (which was never high art to begin with) and in losing that structure is just meandering and trying to be as crass and debased as possible. It's all pretty bad now.
I know people are always reluctant to admit something they enjoy is falling off, but this show has fallen off.
I agree that this season was a a falling off, but I am really glad they abandoned everything about the comic, structure included. Following the comic (in my opinion) wasn’t going to lead to a good show.
I felt like the comic actually tried way harder to be as crass and debased as possible.
I think the show made the (unfortunately) common mistake of spinning their wheels, knowing they had one more season to “really” wrap stuff up.
