Yes similar to what I said at beginning- France does not lack for alternatives - the only thing I can figure is officials consider having the finish line at Eiffel Tower (I think that’s where it is) to be the most important consideration

I realize that the expense to a city/country for hosting an Olympics is only justified because of the worldwide promotion/advertising that comes from two straight weeks of TV & media exposure. There's no doubt that they want the backdrop of the event to be the most famous landmark in town. But at some point the Olympic committee has to step in to demand that all conditional standards that will/could affect the athletes are met in order to keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible. Would they allow track & field events to be held if the lanes of the track were too slick/slippery to run on?
