The Nascar Thread

Dale's view also similar to mine - Austin drove into the back of the 22 for sure, it was desperation, but we do see that from time to time. It's not something people are going to like but it's also part of racing for the win. Then with Denny, it's just too hard to say that Austin won because he wrecked Denny. They're both squeezed into the same part of the track and at the point of contact, Austin is only thinking about full throttle on-line to the finish . . . and that requires him to turn left to avoid getting knocked into the wall with the 11.

While I tend to agree, Denny Hamlin has a much different take, which I guess is understandable, but he thinks Nascar has to draw a line in the sand and he obviously feels what Austin did was way over the line. I mean, his take is that Austin was too far back to legitimately race Joey and it was a deliberate decision to wreck Joey.

Hamlin said he had no idea Austin was in his space until Dillon actually turned him. Obvioisly he felt like Austin intentionally turned into him.

The other part of it is Austin's spotter was actually telling him to outright wreck Joey. So that's something else on the radar.

Idk what Nascar does. We'll see I guess.
