Pros and Cons after the 49ers game.

That third drive was great, but a major factor is that practically none of the 49ers projected defensive starters played. None of the starting DL or DB's played. One of their projected starting LB's got extended work, but he's a starter at SLB and will likely not see the field too much.

We looked way better than we did last week against backups, so it's a step in the right direction.
are you sure? i read that both SF starting safety's played, see below taken from a SF game review website:

"Alas, the Niners’ lack of safety depth had the starters in action early, and Brown made his presence known with a great tackle for loss on the Saints’ second drive"

Not defense, but also this nugget about SF starting RT:
"The 49ers starting right tackle repeatedly lost one-on-one reps on Sunday, even against second and third-string defensive ends".
