TIL: Today I Learned...

well... i have a new hip - that was faster than expected, usually you have to wait a year + for our "free" canadian healthcare providers just to give you a consultation - i kinda had a fairytale joint replacement journey i guess, 6 months start to end (not really ending yet though... this hurts like a mother)

5 days since surgery, prescribed Oxy is about to run out (prolly for the best i guess?) and can't sleep more than an hour or two at a time, have a 2 week-doctors visit to make sure all is good coming up, then a 6 week visit with the surgeon... until then i'm not supposed to do anything... 6 WEEKS - can't even drive!! and then, get this... supposed to have ANOTHER 6 weeks of rehab and doing nothing.

This is just yelling into the void, i have tv series and puzzles and games and all this stuff to fill time, but I ALSO shouldn't have alcohol with these meds - which is the worst thing the doc could have said in front of my wife :( 3 months... at one point in my life that would have been like winning the lottery

I have a wheeled walker to use at home when no one's home (my daughter saw it and started sniggering) and i want to launch these crutches into the sun already... apologies, hope everyone is sleeping peacefully
Surgeons are all alike, they never tell you all of the effects of said surgery, lest most opt NOT the have said surgery. Most folks seem to get favorable outcomes from hip replacement, but the journey to that end can be somewhat arduous. Good luck, and I hope you think it's worth it once you feel better.

Did they put you on hip precautions?
