The Rise of the Side Hustle

I like to think of it more as " i cant sit still" in retirement type thing. Many are so programmed to work hard that retirement ( in the sense of not working ) doesnt appeal to me. Slowing it down, but still doing something with my day is what i most likely will end up doing and if im getting paid to do it, even better.

I still have about 12 years before retirement, so i really dont know what i would want to do. I would love to remain in my field ( insurance ) but not many openings for a 65 yr old licensed agent on the sales side. So maybe consulting type work ( risk management ). However, 12 more years may scar me to the point that i want a clean break fro the 40+ year career in this industry and i may decide to do landscaping ( i do really enjoy that - design, planting etc ) of some sort.

or i may end up w/ you at Lowes or HD telling Gen Z how to unclog a drain or replace a recessed light. lol

i have routinely thought of a side hustle- the landscaping part- but i am so busy during the week, that i would only be available weekends, and i really dont want to spend my weekends working from 8am to 5pm. I do sometimes help out my BiL who has a landscape company when needed, usually 2-4 hrs and he will toss me $100 or so ( and i really would rather him keep his $$$ due to the physical nature of what he does every day ) but it is nice to have some pocket cash.
