Would it be possible to start with a 0-7?

No because if they start 0-6 they will fire DA and the team will rally around the lame duck interim coach to bring us to 1-6.
While it's POSSIBLE, I don't think it's probable. But if the unthinkable happens, your scenario seems about right to me. And IF that happens, I'd like to know just WHO that interim coach is likely to be? DA's staff is notoriously "thin" on experience, and "skins on the wall", IMO. I don't know this to be the case, but it seemed CSP sought out the best "teachers" he could find, with intent to stand on their shoulders....the "rising tide lifts ALL boats" theory. And his best teachers got poached, with promotions to somewhere else, and CSP repeated the cycle. It SEEMS that DA doesn't hire anyone who may pose a threat to him from within his own staff. I don't know that's the case, but that's how it looks from the outside looking in.

With that said, WHO on DAs staff is most qualified to act as interim? Much as I like KK, and the potential de facto coach in the form of his father, truth is....KK almost certainly isn't ready. He may not even be ready to be an OC. Same with the guys under him on his offensive staff....no one ready to act as HC on an interim basis, IMO. I would think we're looking at the defensive side of the ball to fill the interim position. While that side is more experienced, and settled, I'm not sure who MIGHT be ready and able to fill those shoes for the rest of the season?

My BEST GUESS would actually be the ST coach, Darren Rizzi, who interviewed for the HC position when DA was hired. Not sure he's qualified either, but he's been all around the league for a LONG time, and John Harbaugh provides the blueprint for the highly unusual path of a ST coach making the jump to a HC position. But one could also argue that Harbaugh was born with the coaching gene, and being a ST coach was just an unusual and inconvenient path to the inevitable. Not sure Rizzi fills that criteria like Harbaugh does.

So back to the question....if it isn't Rizzi, WHO on the current staff is most likely, or most qualified, to take the reins on an interim basis? Just to be clear....I'm not advocating this path....if this comes to fruition, something has gone HORRIBLY wrong and the season will be over by Halloween this year. But it IS smart to have contingency plans in place for unexpected disasters. What do we think the contingency plan MIGHT BE in the event that the season starts to unfold in a manner that looks like the OPs original question? Thoughts....
