That was the debut we all hoped for. We beat up an inferior team the way a good team is supposed to beat up an inferior team.
I'd like to see a little more run/pass balance. We ran 37 times to 19 completed passes (24 attempts). 145 of our 200 passing yards were on 6 passing plays leaving a 4 yard average on the rest of the passing plays.
We will need to rely more on the pass when teams defenses focus in on the run and I think we'll need more than just bigger chunk plays to sustain drives. I'd love to see the screen game and a good blocking scheme for it develop over the course of the season. I'm not asking for Brees/PT levels of screen game, just another effective tool in the tool box.
Some real tests come in the weeks ahead, but you can only play the teams you play and Kubiak had the team performing to expectations which is something Carmichael couldn't do last year.
