Early take on how we match up next week vs. Dallas?

I hope that 44-14 is some kind of messing around with the over-under, because this defense under Allen as HC has never given up that many points. Last year's season high surrendered was 33, and that was with the offense basically giving them 14 (second TD & last TD). 2022's season high surrendered was 42, and we know 14 of that came off pick-sixes. 2021's high of 40 involved a pick-six and a short-field INT. When the Saints give up a lot of points, everybody has their share in it. I can't see them putting up 44 on their own.

Dallas in September is a lot different than the Dallas in December that we all know and love. The big issue for the Saints is simply this is still a brand new offensive scheme for everyone on the team, they're still learning it. Add in how little experience Penning has as a whole, this is not an offense that is going to want to see Penning in 40+ pass protection snaps against Micah Parsons. Yes, they can and will give Penning help, but it will take away from their gameplan greatly and make it even more difficult to keep up if Dallas is churning out touchdowns.

This Saints offense right now to me screams win with violence. Win with physicality. Establish dominance of the line of scrimmage and control the clock. Keep the defense well rested and fresh. Grupe's hot so just kicking field goals, eating clock, and winning field position can choke teams to death. When you look at how Dallas' offense is built, they want track meets. They want to move the ball quick. Their style of offense always struggles when their possessions become extremely limited and the game gets shortened. We've seen it done like clockwork to McCarthy when he was in Green Bay and again and again with him in Dallas.
