Missing Sequels

I'm surprised Spielberg is directing

After the Ready Player One debacle I'm not as optimistic as I would be but we'll see

There is no actual sourcing on any of this.

Yesterday's report about a potential sequel came from The Sun, which is literally just a tabloid that makes sheet up, and the additional info comes from a random X account. That poster is obviously fake.

We have to have better media literacy about this stuff.

As a general rule of thumb, no information is "real" about movies until it has been reported by one of the major industry trades (Variety, Hollywood Reporter, or Deadline), When they report something, it is accurate and vetted because they are getting the info directly from the studios. If this project were far enough in development that posters were being made, it would have been reported on numerous times by these publications.

There used to be a lot of accurate insiders and leakers who would get good info about stuff early in development and it would pan out. The studios have compromised most of these people and flooded them with bad info. Even people like Jeff Sneider who used to be pretty reliable seem to miss more than they hit these days. He just had a major failure this past week when he ran with an "insider" report that almost everything they had done for Beyond the Spider-Verse had been dumped and they had restarted from scratch, then Chris Miller (executive producer) came out and said that wasn't true at all.

But even at that, I promise you if Spielberg was circling a Goonies sequel, there would be better sourcing on it than an anonymous report from The Sun and some random 80's toy social media account.

If the sources are tabloids and random social media accounts, do not trust them. If the sources are weird arse websites with articles that feel like they were written by AI and lots of columns promising that Kathleen Kennedy totally got beat up by Dave Filoni and Bob Iger fired her and had her arrested, do not trust them. If the sources are any of the Fandom Menace (Doomcock/Overlord DVD for one) types of YouTube, do not trust them.
