Baldy’s Breakdowns: Saints in Week 1 (Carr, Mathieu and Fuaga)

Yep. Those OL picks are not sexy or fun at all, and a lot of times even if they don’t bust, you end up with a good player…however sometimes you REALLY hit the jackpot.

We may have indeed captured elite, superstar level play at what I think is the second most critical offensive position on the football field, for the next decade plus. Having an elite LT is truly a game changer and opens so many things up.

Between the explosion of 7 on 7 football and the faster development of WRs combined with the reduced emphasis and lack of development of offensive lineman, I would take a OL in the 1st every year. The plug and play OL are rare whereas a playmaker can be found fairly easy in the first 3 rounds. Our best playmakers are 2 UDFAs, Shaheed and Taysom while our starting TE is a converted UDFA WR.
