This is what I don't like about it. Obviously it's over, but it would be like someone using "cowabunga" in late 99. Just a wildly out of date slang term that sticks out because of how dated it is.
This isn't really related, since the story I'm about to tell actually involved modern lingo at the time....but there's a specific Sting memory I have from my childhood that I've never forgotten. This would have mostly likely been at some point in 1988 (likely that summer or later in the year) based on research I've done.......and would have likely been in Sting's early NWA days, since both Mid South and UWF were done by '87.
Sting would come out and cut a promo......and near the end, he would do his HOWLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL, then go ....LA BAMBA !!!!!!!!!!!!! (which was all over the radio at that time).........then another HOWLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL, followed by "Don't Worry, Be Happy !!!!! (also all over the radio at that time). I just wonder if he came up with that himself, or if someone backstage was all like "hey, scream out these 2 chart-topping song titles at the end of your promos, everyone will pop!!"
As a child, one doesn't tend to care about remembering things in sequential / logical order......but in my child mind, it felt like he was doing that every Saturday for multiple weeks.
