Taysom Hill’s 14 career games vs the Falcons

We have to get his replacement in the building. Currently we have no one that's close, and Taysom is 34.
He’s a 1 of 1, good luck finding another one like him
I don't think he's a super rare athlete. We just have to find players with his speed, power, and size, and make a commitment to develop them. The main reason there aren't more like him is no one is looking or making commitments to develop them.

This has been debunked. I'll copy and paste a portion of a post from another thread that makes clear every team would love to have one, and many have tried to draft and/or develop one, including the Saints, without success, because until proven otherwise, Hill is a one of one.

He's a generational player with a unique skill set. When trying to find a player to replicate the Taysom phenomenon the first requirement is the player has to be a QB, with similar measurements and talent, that is willing to sacrifice his pride and be willing to do whatever it takes to get on the field. Without the threat of the pass, the effect is not the same. See Kamara Wildcat.

- and Nobody Else is looking for their own Taysom Hill otherwise Tommy Stevens would have a job and Tim Tebow would've had a career.

Tim Tebow was asked to consider playing that role. He refused to do so. We'll never know if he could have thrived in a similar role.

CSP traded a 6th round 2021 pick to draft Tommy Stevens in the 2020 draft in the 7th round in order to keep CAR from doing so with the idea of him playing a multi-faceted position role for the Saints in the mold of TH7. Stevens didn't make it out of training camp before being cut.

The Panthers scooped him up with the same idea. He appeared in one game as a Panther in 2020 for a total of 5 offensive snaps. He was cut and resigned to the Panthers practice squad several times in 2020 and then was released for good by them in June of 2021. The Giants took a flyer on him in August of 2021 with the same idea in mind. That lasted 8 days before they cut him. 3 teams tried giving Stevens a chance to play a similar role of Taysom Hill.

That's more than Nobody Else, as you stated. Here are a few more.

Copycat NFL Teams Hunting for Rookie QBs Who Can Be the Next Taysom Hill

The Buccaneers clearly weren't looking for some traditional drop back passer for training camp depth when they signed Nick Fitzgerald.

They were seeking a "Slash" player like Saints Quarterback-Wildcat-Receiver-Returner-Special Teamer Hill.

Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht even spoke about the appeal of a Hill-type player earlier in the offseason.

"If you can find a backup quarterback who can play on a lot of your special teams units and come in and play a role on offense, you're utilizing 46 guys on your roster on game day," he said, via Auman.

"It's something that's talked about a lot".

"It's finding a guy that's the tough part."

The Buccaneers aren't alone in their search for the next Hill.

The Giants listed Syracuse rookie quarterback Eric Dungey, who rushed for 754 yards and 15 touchdowns in an Orange offense full of options and designed runs, as both a quarterback and tight end in rookie camp. "Coach offered me an opportunity to play multiple positions and a chance to play quarterback," he said, per the Associated Press.

Re-birth of Slash: NFL teams looking for the next Taysom Hill

During joint practices and a preseason game against the Saints, Gus Bradley and the Chargers got an up-close look at the versatility of (Hill) a do-everything backup quarterback.

"You rarely see a guy that size with that type of speed," Bradley said.

"Sometimes you see speed and you go, 'Well, he's going to play wide receiver.' But because of his size, he can play multiple positions."

Wanting to add a similar athlete to an already-explosive offense, the Chargers selected North Dakota State quarterback Easton Stick in the fifth-round of this year's draft.

Stick is one of a handful of players around the league added to the back end of rosters who could serve in a similar role to Hill's for the Saints.

Taysom Hill restarts a trend

Seeking an advantage
on game days, NFL teams are looking to adopt some of the things the Saints have had success with by using Hill.

NFL Teams Are Trying To Find Their Own Taysom Hill

The National Football League is a league full of copycats. Once one team attempts something new and is successful with it, other teams follow suit to see if it will work for them.

One of the most notable recent fads in the NFL was the “Wildcat” offense.

This offensive tweak has been around for about 100 years with the late Pop Warner using it in his single-wing offense.

There is no denying what Taysom Hill has done with the New Orleans Saints in a one-of-a-kind situation.
Hill is listed as a quarterback, but he plays all over the field. He has been seen making plays on special teams, running the ball, catching the ball, and making plays under center.

Lynn Bowden
has been called the closest thing to that.

Let’s start with height, weight, and 40 time.

Since 2000, the NFL Scouting Combine has seen 25 players who fit these measurables: 6’1 - 6’3, 225 pounds - 235 pounds, a sub-4.5 40-yard dash.

Those 25 players run the gamut from eight receivers to six running backs, seven linebackers, two safeties, and two tight ends.

This body type has produced first round picks at receiver, tight end, running back, and outside linebacker.

It features future Hall of Famers like Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Johnson (the only two of these guys drafted in the top-15 and it so happens they were third overall picks in back-to-back years) and a couple of really good players in Demario Davis, Larry Johnson and DK Metcalf. There’s also Evan Engram, Darron Lee, Michael Boulware, Taylor Mays, Shaquem Griffin, Legedu Naanee, Quincy Enunwa, and 2020 Raiders rookie safety Tanner Muse.

Not a Single one of those 25 players is a Quarterback, but Taysom Hill wasn’t invited to the combine.

At his BYU pro day, Hill measured in just over 6’2, 230 pounds, and he ran a 4.44 in the 40-yard dash.

Hill and Andre Johnson both came into the NFL as 6’2, 230-pound players who could run about the exact same speed in the 40-yard dash.

Johnson had a 39” vertical and Hill had a 38.5” vertical.
