Pink Floyd sells catalog to Sony for $400 million

My older brother is a pink Floyd fan but to me they're like kiss.....a band that has decent music but I never go out of my way to listen to.

Not all great art is appreciated by everyone - and that’s okay.

But Pink Floyd is iconic because they are a unique and simply brilliant band who created some of the most complete, inspired, and beautiful rock albums ever. They’re not a “hit single” kind of a band, though they have songs on the radio - they are the quintessential album rock band, where each is its own concept and journey, brilliantly arranged and performed. Nobody sounds like Pink Floyd - but if you haven’t sat and listened to a Pink Floyd album, you haven’t really listened to Pink Floyd, as hearing a song here and there on the radio isn’t at all what makes the band.

Dark Side of the Moon is the 4th greatest selling album of all time and has been in the Billboard 200 album chart for 990 weeks (could be more at this point) - that’s over 19 years! The album only produced one charting single (Money went to #13 in the US). Three Pink Floyd albums are in Rolling Stone’s top 300 albums of all time. Each of their concert tours between 1972 and 1994 was among the very highest grossing tours of the decade. They were inducted to the Rock and Roll hall of fame just one year after Led Zeppelin.
