US ports longshoremen’s strike (East and Gulf coasts)

They agreed to keep talking on the other points but have settled the wage increase.
If this was strictly about wage increases or improved working conditions, then this brief ILA longshoreman's strike on East Coast and Gulf Coast coasts doesn't happen. The main, seemingly impossible, over-arching issue is the threat of automation will have to many dock workers, steveadores, pipe-fitters, longshoremen working at 15+ major ports from Maine to Texas.

I don't know how ILA leaders are going to be able to force Pandora back in her little box because automation, AI technology, more sophisticated technology is coming down the tracks regardless of how much latter-day Luddites like it or not. You can't de-invent AI just like state-of-the-art nano technological breakthroughs can't be prevented from happening.

Science is still science even when its not necessarily on your side, you don't approve of it or doesn't favor your argument.
