Looks like things are escalating
I’ve mentioned before that I think it’s really silly to have a side in all of this at least as Americans. A lot of people support Israel for religious reasons. It’s not much different than someone in Bangladesh supporting Islamic resistance in this conflict.
IDF, Hezbollah, Hamas - all terrorist factions. Our country is only involved to try to stymie threat on our proxy for military/resource control.
Israel made a bet that the US would cover its arse as it attempted to use Oct 7th as a justification to commit ethnic cleansing of the people of Gaza and steal more land. As bad as Oct 7th was, they purposefully used propaganda (and to anyone knowledgeable on history of Israeli propaganda, it makes sense) to spread lies of widespread rape and beheaded babies. Lies that our own president repeated. To those that want the conversation to be “but Oct 7th..so be quiet!!!” and to refuse to delve into any other nuance, whether kids were beheaded or women raped doesn’t matter. To anyone understanding of how propaganda works, it’s extremely important to note these nuances.
That bet Israel made its looking dicey right now. Netanyahu and most most of the IDF would be tried for war crimes and never see out of a cell window in a just world where America wasn’t defending war crimes. In this case, it’s a major ally in a hostile region, so yes it is excused. Even defended. Our representatives have done it time and again. It’s a system problem, not so much a political one.
Another major war won’t be good for any American. Only members of Congress and the defense industry.
