DA said that A.T. Perry was waived to clear a roster spot due to OL injuries…

The Saints waived A.T. Perry Friday afternoon. The waiver wire period is 24 hours. It must include Saturdays but not Sundays. The waiver wire period to claim Perry ends at some point in time this afternoon.

So far Perry has not been claimed by another team. If he is claimed by another team he must be place on their active 53-man roster which would require the claiming team to make a move on their current roster by either placing one of their current players on injured reserve of cutting a player to accommodate the spot for the claimed player. If Perry goes unclaimed, he will become a free agent and can then sign with any team of his choosing, to their practice squad or their active 53-man roster.

D.A. has said that the release of Perry was strictly due to opening up a roster spot in order to sign an offensive lineman, which they did when they signed Connor McGovern. Allen also said Perry was the odd man out on the active 53-man roster. Only 2 players on the active 53-man roster had not played a single down through 4 games, A.T. Perry and Spencer Rattler. Perry was the logical player to release to make room for signing McGovern.

Whenever Kendre Miller is activated off of injured reserve the Saints will have to make another roster cut. It will be interesting to see who will be cut in order to make room for Miller.

Meanwhile, this afternoon will be the close of the waiver wire period for A.T. Perry. There's probably a half dozen teams that could use some help a WR. If Perry doesn't get claimed the Saints have indicated that they would like to resign him to the practice squad. If he clears waivers, it will be interesting if he chooses to sign with the Saints as a practice squad player or moves on to another team to do the same. That will most likely happen on Tuesday.

The future of A.T. Perry begins this afternoon.
He will probably clear waivers and be signed to a PS. 53's are pretty tight this time of the year. I wish him luck.

We probably have at least 1 player that can go on IR, so I think we can shoehorn Miller in without cutting a healthy player.
